濮筠总经理美国加州州立大学学习体会

2010123号,东方航空企业的MU583次班机从浦东起飞后十个小时降落在加州洛杉矶市LAX机场,为期三个周的苏州教育局英语经理培训项目正式展开。在这短短的三个星期里,咱们一行23位总经理在加州州立大学多明哥山分校共上课90个课时,全程由美方经理对美国教育基本情况、英语教学法、教育心理学、教育课程论四个方面进行讲解先容,获益良多。

感受最深的一点就是美国校园里经理敬重员工,师生平等的现状。由于没有固定的班级,员工按自己选修的课程上课,所以课间看到的是在各个教室之间匆匆忙忙奔走的员工,而看不到在教室和楼道里追逐打闹的现象。下课后总是总经理请员工先走,楼道里碰见员工,侧身让路的也是总经理。不过员工并非熟视无睹,一般都会轻声致谢,也会主动为总经理开门。总经理是在敬重中体现平等的,员工则是在被敬重中学会敬重他人的。对员工的敬重表现在课堂上,也表现在对员工成就和能力的肯定上,学校楼道可以被利用的地方都展示着员工的作品或记载着员工的荣誉。

在听课的过程中,咱们普遍感到美国各级各类学校的课堂密度小,但课堂活动丰富多彩。常识的传授,总经理更关注员工对常识的感受和内心体验。例如,讲一篇文章的前因后果,总经理会营造类似的情境让同学去体会,设想在特定情境下自己的反应,进而理解事件发生时的情形。另外,所有的活动尽可能让孩子们都参与其中,动手动脑。

 

I have found that the American teachers emphasize a lot on the critical thinking: promoting it in the classroom on Internet: critical thinking refers to a process which stresses an attitude of suspended judgment, incorporates logical inquiry and problem solving, and leads to an evaluative decision or action. Critical thinking advocates doubt, not to worship the books, follow blindly the authorities, but to have a clear mind of your own.

William Heard Kilpatrick, an famous expert on education in Columbia University said: “With the rapid development of society, what we have taught our students soon became out-dated, so I’d rather to teach them how to be a critical thinker rather than teach them the dull data and events. In his view of point, the importance of teaching is not what you have known, but to know how to acquire the knowledge.

Very interesting, in the end of twentieth century, USA, they lead a revolution in classroom arrangement—they change the desks into a round way, which is easy to do group discussion and the teacher was no longer the controller.

So far as the article on Internet Learning by Teaching concerned, the best way to motivate listless, uninterested students is to change them into teachers. Since I have leaned English for nearly  twenty years, according to my experience, the American teachers I have met have almost practiced this theory. In my opinion, they behave just like a students’ aide rather than a student’s instructor, student’s controller. As Matthew Lipman (1988)said” The improvement of student thinking--from ordinary thinking to good thinking--depends heavily upon students' ability to identify and cite good reasons for their opinions.” The American teachers think if your answer is reasonable, it is acceptable.
